The German Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) commissioned Levin Sources to develop the methodology for the third party exporter audit, that is a fundamental component of the Regional Certification Mechanism (RCM) of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR). The exporter audit is coordinated and monitored by the ICGLR’s Audit Committee to ensure the export of conflict-free minerals from the region. The system is soon to be operational in DRC and Rwanda.
This methodology was consulted on and improved at a workshop with the Audit Committee in Nairobi in October 2013.
