Levin Sources was commissioned by Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe (BGR) to conduct an evaluation of mining revenue streams and due diligence implementation costs along mineral supply chains in Rwanda.
The study aims at evaluating the economic sustainability of ASM supply chains originating in Rwanda vis-à-vis common ASM formalisation factors as well as challenges arising from the increased supply chain due diligence focus applying to the Great Lakes Region. The study was part of the BGR module supporting the implementation of the Regional Certification Mechanism and the formalisation of artisanal and small-scale mining in Rwanda and Burundi as part of a GIZ-BGR programme to support the ICGLR and RINR.
