A new publication from UNITAR and UN Environment, Developing National ASGM Formalization Strategies within National Action Plans, is available now.
The document aims to assist countries to develop Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining (ASGM) formalisation strategies as part of their National Action Plans under the Minamata Convention on Mercury. The target audience is countries and agencies, but the guidance is also relevant for private sector stakeholders (including financial institutions and mining companies), non-governmental organizations, universities, donors, and other stakeholders.
Levin Sources' Mineral Sector Development Manager Adam Rolfe is a named reviewer for the publication.
UNITAR and UN Environment are printing a number of hard copies which will be handed out at Minamata COP 2, and are working on the French and Spanish translation of the document.
